The reigning NBA MVP and the two-time NBA champion Lebron James touched down in Manila for a most-awaited visit by his fans. James, who was here for Nike-sponsored visit #WitnessHistory last July 23, 2013, finally realized what his coach Eric Spoelstra had told him before coming. James landed at the country via a private jet the day before the event and did a press conference that answered honestly the entire question fired up.
"My coach told me all about how big basketball here is. I'm also passionate about it," James revealed as he was overwhelmed by how the fans welcomed him. "He said it's a great country and the people are passionate about what they love and what they believe in," added James as he was trying to recall what his coach, Erik Spoelstra whose mother was from Laguna and visited the country twice and conducted clinics, said to him about the country.
The #WitnessHistory event was been a huge trending topic all over the country at the time which was lined up by many of the avid fans of the basketball superstar by the moment Nike had given away free tickets for the event though some profited the tickets that were given and sold in the internet for as much as 5,000 pesos.

As the start of the event, the Mall of Asia Arena was packed over 15,000-crowd who’s cheering was loud as desire explodes to meet James. The event was filled with skills challenge participated by some local Nike endorsers and as well as the Gilas Philippine team. Lebron was introduced similarly as he was introduced way back four years ago with loud hip-hop music, dazzling lights, fireworks and highlight reels of his games that were shown on a giant screen that also astounded the crowd. James never disappointed the fans as he delivered ring-rattling dunks at the game that were played by the Gilas team against the collegiate players, who was coached by the basketball superstar, after he conducted a quick clinic.
Lebron was filled with astonishment with the crowd of 15,000 who filled the arena. James was very happy with little time that he experienced and shared with his fans and vowed to return to the country for the second time around. "I can't believe it's my first time here and it definitely won't be my last." Though James visited the country to endorse his self-named shoes, he hoped that with the little time they had his presence would inspire his Filipino fans, for them to strive harder and reach for their goals as much as he did. #
